Guy “Dwain” Ficklin passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the age of 85. Dwain was born to Guy and Ruby Ficklin on January 28, 1939, in Gonzales, Louisiana. He graduated from Istrouma High School and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Dwain worked his entire career at Formosa Plastics as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially with deer, fox, and rabbit. Dwain enjoyed competing in field trials for fox hunting. He loved spending time with his family at the hunting and fishing camp on Big Alabama. Dwain also loved spending time with his great grandchildren by throwing the ball inside the house and causing havoc to Pat’s pictures.
Dwain was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Ruby Ficklin, and sister, Jackie Duke.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Daigle Ficklin; daughter, Kelli Ficklin Cruze (Jimmy); sisters, Kathleen Armond and Ruby Nell Pickering; brother, John Chaney II; grandchildren, James Cruze (Emma); great grandchildren, Luke and Lena Cruze; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to the dedicated staff of Lane Memorial Hospital and Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for the compassionate and attentive care they provided.
