Gregory Jacob Kukuy died peacefully in his home on Saturday, May 24, 2008, after several months struggling with metastatic lung cancer. He was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, and immigrated with his wife and children to the United States of America in December of 1989, making Baton Rouge their residence. He was a loving husband, father and friend. He enjoyed giving advice to all who were willing to listen. Preceded in death by his father, Jacob Kukuy. He is survived by his wife, Liya Kukuy, owner of The Best Touch; and two children, daughter, Elina Kukuy, 24, a graduate of Episcopal High School and Birmingham-Southern College, in her third year studying podiatric medicine at Barry University in Miami; and son, Leo Kukuy, 21, a graduate of Woodlawn High School and a junior at Louisiana Tech. He is also survived his mother, Sarah Berezetskaya; and brother, Michael Kukuy, of New Orleans. Service at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, May 27, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those interested to please make donations to either the Gregory Kukuy Donation Fund, available at any Chase Bank, B'Nai Israel Synagogue or Hospice of Baton Rouge. The family would like to thank everyone for their financial and emotional support.
