Gregory M. Gora, 68, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017. He enjoyed helping others, taking pictures and building wooden clocks. His wife's grandfather had built several clocks and Greg definitely caught the bug, he built over 80 clocks in his lifetime. He was also an avid bread maker, employing his KitchenAide to whip up French and rye bread.
Gregory was a Kiwanis member for many years and sold Christmas trees at the lot outside Cortana Mall. He served as a scout leader for Cub Scout Pack 777 and Troop 888 for many years helping his sons to become Eagle Scouts. His specialty was teaching the Rifle and Shotgun merit badge at Camp Avondale. He also served on the Catholic High Men's Club selling doubloons for their annual barbecue.
He worked as a project manager for Jacobs Engineering for 28 years, working at chemical plants across the country. Gregory was a strong proponent of professional engineering encouraging many young engineers to get their PE license.
Gregory is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy; and his sons, Nicholas and wife Courtney, Steven, and Christopher and wife Kasey. He has one amazing granddaughter, Sophie. His sister, Carol Gora and cousin, Paulette Field, also survive him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anne and Tony Gora.
Visitation will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 15615 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am.
Many thanks to the extraordinary doctors, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. The team at TNCC and Palliative Care were amazing and comforting.
