Gregory Brooks Barth, age 37, took his seat at the Lord’s table on June 26, 2023.
Greg was born on October 9, 1985, in Anchorage, Alaska to Bruce and Mary Barth. Greg graduated from Bishop Sullivan High School (St. Michael the Archangel High School) in 2004 and attended Texas A&M University. Greg was the oldest of three children, and the first National Merit Scholar in St. Michael’s academic history.
Greg was a scholar and a gentle soul. He truly knew how to live in the moment. Greg’s joys in life were his family, the arts, and the outdoors. Whether writing music, poetry, painting, or sculpting, Greg had a sharp ability to capture emotional expression through art. Greg also found joy in nature when fishing or hiking. Despite the many adversities he faced in his young life, Greg remained true to his passions.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Bruce; younger brother, Sam; grandparents, Mary and Joseph Barth and Henry and Betty Baker. Greg is survived by his mother, Mary; sister, Julie; brother-in-law, Michael; nephew, Ethan; two nieces, Savannah and Molly; and many Barth and Baker uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is now resting peacefully with Our Lord, and he’s reunited with his father and brother.
A visitation service will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory located at 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Tuesday, July 11 at 9:00 A.M. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), a cause Greg’s family is passionate about.
