Grace Yvonne Ellis Turnipseed, age 95, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022. Grace was born in Stephenson (now Crosby), Mississippi, later moving to Baton Rouge. During her childhood she spent time in Honduras in the summers, since her father was the veterinarian for the livestock on a large fruit plantation near La Ceiba. Grace was graduated from Istrouma High School. She and her loving husband, Bill, married in 1949. They enjoyed traveling the country, especially the Gulf beaches, and also the Western U.S. After his retirement they made four trips to Alaska via the Al-Can Highway.
Grace is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William D. (Bill) Turnipseed; parents Jesse Coke Ellis and Mary Elizabeth Hall Ellis; and her siblings Mary Elizabeth Simmons, Louise M. Ellis, Jesse Coke Ellis, Jr., and Lillian Frances Duvic.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven on Friday, March 25th, 2022, from 1 o’clock p.m. until services at 2 o’clock p.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven.
