A retired employee of Albemarle Corp. with 45 years of service, he died at 1:47 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at his home. He was 67 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War with the rank of sergeant, a recipient of the Purple Heart and member of the 196th Light Infantry Brigade. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Monday, Dec. 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Tuesday, Dec. 28, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Collins, celebrant. Entombment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. Survived by his wife, Linda P. Golson two sons, Brandon A. Golson and John Bradley Golson sister, Barbara Robinson brotherinlaw and sisterinlaw, Mike A. and Catherine Palermo and two nephews, Michael Palermo and Andy Palermo. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Nydia Golson and fatherinlaw and motherinlaw, Tony and Josie Palermo. Pallbearers will be Michael Palermo, Andy Palermo, Frank Collura, David Coughran, Mike Palermo and Hershel Falcon. Honorary pallbearers are Gene Ponti, Andy Major and Randall Arceneaux. He was a member and served as a Eucharistic minister at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The family extends gratitude to Dr. David Hanson and all the staff at the Louisiana HematologyOncology Associates, Dr. Maurice King and staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and St. Joseph Hospice, especially David Waites, for all their help and support during his time of illness.
