Goldia Knight Ruffin, 92, native of Van Buren, AR, and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on November 2, 2015, following a brief illness.
During World War II she was among the first of the "Rosie the Riverter" teams to join the Women's War Effort. She retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish Council on Aging. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and spending time with family.
Mrs. Ruffin was preceded in death by her husband H.D. Ruffin and her parents Samuel Knight and Queen Knight.
She is survived by her three children, Nick Ruffin and wife Jackie from Denver, CO, Rusty Ruffin and wife Penny of Denver, CO, and Tanya Knight Ruffin and husband James Slaughter of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Penny McCue of Roseburg, OR, Cindy Wonderful of Baton Rouge and Nikki Ruffin of Denver, CO; along with six great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be observed on Monday, November 9, 2015, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Mervin Collins.
Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
