Gloria Cryer

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on Friday, May 18, 2012. She was 82 years old. Memories of her as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother will abound as she leaves behind many who have been forever touched by her life here on earth. Glorias love for her family was matched only by her love for dancing. Although the debilitating disease of Alzheimers had stolen away much of her memory she never forgot how to move her feet and clap her hands to the beat of jitterbug music coming to her ears. Her family praises God at this time for her peaceful passing and we rejoice in the knowledge that she is dancing now with sure feet in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Raymond Dale Cryer and wife Patricia A. Perna Cryer, Sharon Kay Davis and husband Murray Dale Davis. Her grandchildren, Tracy R. Cryer Sasich, Shelly A. Cryer Saurage and husband Ronald P. Saurage II, Jennifer C. Davis Merritt and husband Paul Merritt, Justin D. Davis and wife Holley Steagall Davis, and also survived by Jon and Larry Morgan and her great grandchildren, Whitney P. Sasich, Cale E. Saurage, Riley J. Saurage, Keagan P. Merritt, Kamryn P. Merritt, Justin D. Davis Jr. and Jackson Paul Merritt. Gloria was the wife of the late John P. Cryer. She retired as Assistant Executive Director of the Louisiana Board of Examiners of Nursing Facility Administrators. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Gonzales Health Care Center for the kindness and care extended to Gloria during her final months. Visitation will be Monday, May 21, 2012 from 10 am until service at 2 pm, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, with a burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. A reception will be held at 17889 Old Jefferson Hwy, following the service.
