Glenn Roy Battle was born December 23, 1944, to George William Battle (deceased) and Norma Babin Battle. He entered eternal life on October 28, 2024. On October 22, 1966, he married and is survived by his high school sweetheart, Joan Evelyn Dupuis Battle. Also surviving him are his cherished children, Michael Glenn Battle, married to Lisa Lynn Billeaud Battle, and Melissa Anne Battle Avery, married to Collin Gilbert Avery. He was the proud grandfather of two wonderful grandchildren, Ainsley Glynn Battle, and Hampton Senn Avery. He is also survived by his sister, Wanda Battle, and her family.
Glenn’s purpose and dedication was to his family. He was also a true Louisiana Sportsman - fishing, hunting, and LSU sports. He currently holds a Louisiana state record for Warmouth Goggle-eye. He was true to his family, friends, and country. Throughout his life, Glenn enjoyed spending many hours on the waters and in the woods of Louisiana. He was very well known in the fishing and hunting communities across the state.
He was employed by Dow Chemical in Plaquemines, LA for 38 years. While employed at Dow Chemical, he founded The Dow Bass Club and organized many fishing tournaments for employees and their families. He traveled within the U.S. and Italy on many occasions to assist in the planning of new facilities for Dow Chemical. After retiring, he put his skills and knowledge to work as an independent contractor within the state.
He served his country in the Army and Army Reserve. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus Council 3331 and an honorary member of Delta Chi Fraternity LSU Chapter, where he spent much of his time assisting with house improvements and social functions. He was an integral member of Baton Rouge Mardi Gras Krewes, Orion and Spanish Town. He served as the President of the Carmel Acres Civic Association and helped to originate legislation regulating neighborhood security.
Visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739, on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, officiated by Reverend Mike Moroney. Interment to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home at 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. A social gathering will follow.
Pallbearers will be Danny Lemoine, Jason Lemoine, Brad Dupuis, JJ Sharkey, Sterling Kidder and Chad Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Hebert, Gil Avery, Ron Broussard, Ray Bourgeois, Billy Gauthier and Bryan Taylor.
