A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Chataignier, La., he passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the age of 91. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, having served on the USS Pensacola. He went to the Hawaiian Islands and was in eleven battles, including Guadalcanal, Midway, Coral Sea, etc. He was a retired bus driver for the East Baton Rouge Bus Company, who organized and was the first Union President. He was successful in negotiating and starting their pension plan. He attended LSU, and earned an LLB Degree from LaSalle University. He had a love of Classical and Cajun music. He played and made violins, his first one was made as a boy from a cigar box. He was a member of The Southern Melody Boys, the first Cajun band. He took many trips to cemeteries around the state with his wife, Ruth, who was an avid geneologist. He loved his family, smoking his pipes and telling stories of growing up on a farm and being in the war. His disciplined afternoon routine was to drink his two beers and listen to his police scanner. Bus Driving and the police scanner enabled him to keep in touch with what was happening in Baton Rouge. The police scanner became more important to him as he became disabled.
