Gerry Ray Earnest passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the age of 69. He was born on October 14, 1944 in Omaha, NE. He retired in 2013 as Service Manager for 15 years at Capitol Buick GMC. He had been a service manager for 37 years in Nebraska and Louisiana. He was also the owner of Woodlawn Florist. He was a devoted and loyal member of Parkview Baptist Church, serving as a trustee and Deacon. He loved the Lord and his family and friends, his church, and the Sonshine S.S. Class.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Janice Creech Earnest three sons, Jeffrey R. Earnest and wife Jo, Craig A. Earnest and wife Alyson, and Todd W. Earnest and wife Leslie two daughters, Amy R. Earnest Tanner, and Jodi L. Earnest Dettman and husband Christopher 12 grandchildren, the joy of his life, Gabrielle Earnest, Benjamin Earnest, Meghan Earnest, Nickolas Earnest, Lillie Earnest, Sawyer Earnest, Slade Earnest, Mollie Tanner, Collin Tanner, Haylee Dettman, Owen Dettman, and Hudson Dettman three sisters, Dorothy Prusha Don, Helen Gladfelter Ron, and Sharon Manley two brothers, James Earnest Johnny Earnest Judy and sisterinlaw, Shirley Earnest. He is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Noah and Opal Milam Earnest and two brothers, Lyndon Earnest, and Jerry Butch Earnest.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Saturday, July 26 from 10:00 am until funeral service. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am.

The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Castine and staff, Baton Rouge Oncology floor, Dr. Adrian Landry, Baton Rouge Midcity skilled nursing and Mercy Hospice.
