Geraldine Saucier

Geraldine Cejka Saucier, born December 31, 1920 a native of Chicago and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 4, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel Saucier, parents, Louis and Josephine Cejka., and her 4 siblings, Blanche, Louis Jr., Georgiana and Edward. She is survived by her children: Janet Finta and Ellen Gannuch, her7 grandchildren, 16 great-children and 1 great-great grandson.

Geraldine was nicknamed "Toots" by her father on the day she was born in their home in Chicago, however she later became lovingly known as "Gagee" to all who knew her. She graduated from Farragut High School in Chicago, married in 1940 and moved to New Orleans.

Toots tended bar at "The Friendly Bar" owned by her mother-in-law, Edna Moore and also kept the books for the Lion Tool & Die Company established by her husband.

She served as president of a garden club near her home in Gentilly Woods where she lived for 45 years before she lost her house during Katrina and moved to Baton Rouge where she lived with her daughter Janet Finta.

She was a generous contributor to many charities over the years and took a special interest in the North American Indians.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge Friday, November 10th from 5pm - 8pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Baton Rouge, Saturday, November 11th. Visitation will begin at 9:30 immediately followed by Mass at 10:30 and the Interment will be in New Orleans at St. Patrick's Cemetery #1.

Pallbearers will be: Jim and Brady Finta, Brian and Gabe Vandegrift, Craig and Tony Gannuch, Lance and Henry Nowacki,
