Geraldine "Geri" Ramirez, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the age of 91. Geri was born December 14, 1932 in Morganza, Louisiana.
Geri married her beloved husband, Richard “Sonny” Ramirez in the summer of 1956. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and love. They raised three wonderful daughters, Alisa R. Janney (Bill), Anastasia L. Ramirez, and E. Kelley Bauer (Sonny). Her grandchildren, Lauren E. Brown (Andrew), Kathryn E. Gremillion (Paul), Chase Mullen (Cheryl) and Brooke Bauer, called her Mimi and she reveled in the joy of watching them grow into the remarkable young adults they are today. Her great-grandchildren, Alex, Avery, Dylan, Jack, Audrey and James, were the twinkling stars in her night sky, each one a living testament to the enduring love she and Sonny had shared.
The second of two children born to Maxey Elijah Parks and Beatrice Mary Perrault, Geri’s childhood was steeped in the timeless traditions of farm life, where she learned the values of hard work, patience and the perseverance that would define her life. Geri is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, as well as her parents, her brother Maxey J. Parks and her half-sister Villie Lee Parks Vicknair.
With a green thumb that could coax life from even the most barren of earth, her garden was not just a hobby, it was a sacred space where she could commune with nature and find peace in the midst of life's storms.
We invite all of Geri's friends and family to join us in a Celebration of Life ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, September, 7, 2024, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge.
