A retired employee with the U.S. Postal Service with 49 years of service, he died Friday, July 9, 2010, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He was 85 and a native and resident of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, July 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 13, at 10 a.m. Survived by his wife, Faye Tiny Allain three daughters, Layne Whitaker and husband Thomas, Leigh Couvillon, and Kaye Melancon and husband Ken two sisters, June Couvillon, and Marie Villarrubia and husband Richard two brothers, Creighton Couvillon and wife Ruth, and Ray Couvillon and wife Val four grandchildren, Matthew Whitaker, Kevin Fournet, Alison and Paige Melancon greatgranddaughter, Aftyn Whitaker and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Ren and Annie English Couvillon brother, Conrad Couvillon and sister, Maryanne Sparks. He was a longtime member and usher of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, member of Knights of Columbus Council 3743 and longtime volunteer at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
