George A Winders, native of Dubuque, Iowa and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away peacefully at 7:15 am on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Baton Rouge. He was 83, born on May 8, 1929, and the founder of Winders Sales, Inc. He had a unique ability to bring love, laughter and joy to family and friends. He was a fun and loving individual who was most proud of his family. Visitation at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 8833 Goodwood Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806 on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11 am, memorial service and mass at 12 noon celebrated by the Rev. David Seger and Deacon Reese Wiggins. Inurnment in Dubuque, Iowa at a later date. He is survived by his former wife, DeLores Winders Glaser three daughters and sonsinlaw, Debra and Loren Brown, Lynn and Sam Khazzoum, Nancy and Larry Padfield two sons and daughtersinlaw, Steve and Jane Winders, Jim and Patricia Winders ten grandchildren, Marcus Brown and wife Kim, Molly Schugel and husband Jason, Meg Semm and husband Mark, Abby Zimmerman and husband Gregg, Nicholas Khazzoum, Brian Winders, Meredith Padfield, Jessica Winders, Emily Winders and Linsee Winders seven great grandchildren, Jake, Josh, Hailey, Maggie, Kaitlyn, Ryan, and Lucas. Preceded in death by parents, James Albert and Frances Schmitt Winders grandparents, George and Hattie Schmitt. He was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church. The family thanks Renee Brady and the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living for the love, care and concern given to George at this difficult time.
