The Lord said I am the Alpha and the Omega the Beginning and the End. Revelation 21:6. George Francis Teepell was first declared dead at his birth on Jan. 27, 1921, but God had planned a life span of 89 years. He finished his days on Monday, May 3, 2010, in his favorite chair listening to the prayers of his children. His first breath was so gentle it was missed. His last breath was a peaceful, gentle step out of this life and into the presence of God. George was born and raised in Watertown, N.Y. He was the son of Francis Harold and Lillian Weller Teepell, and had one sister, Mary Teepell Raab, now deceased. He graduated from Syracuse University and enlisted into U.S. Army Air Forces during World War ll. This choice to serve proved to be the greatest blessing of his life. He was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base, where he fell in love, at first glance, with a beautiful blonde in a red dress: Katherine Ida Haughton. He pursued and married Kitty Teepell and greeted her with Hello, Beautiful everyday of their married life. She died May 27, 2009. His profound love for her is a beautiful example we will treasure always. Hard work, loyalty, and persistence were the hallmarks of his life. As a CPA, his year revolved around Tax Day April 15th. After taxes was his standard reply to all invitations, and so, we smile considering the date of his death. The disciplined character that prospered him in his work also served him well in his hobbies. He greatly enjoyed time spent on the golf course and around the gin table with his friends at Sherwood Forest Country Club. His wife and children enjoyed many special extras because of his financial success at these hobbies. He kept his bizarre Yankee food preferences but his life, his love, his heart and his legacy were here, so Louisiana became his true home. Left with treasured memories are his three sons and their wives: Col. Kenneth and Dana Teepell, USAF Ret., Tommy and Brenda Teepell, Charlie and Toni Teepell soninlaw, Clay Sanders grandchildren, Tommy and Alicia Teepell, Timmy and Sarah Teepell, Todd Teepell, Taylor Teepell, Charlie Michael Teepell, Courtney Teepell, Kristin and Sean Bergeron, Shawn and Konrad Eppel, M.D, and Jeremy Hebert 11 greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A graveside farewell was celebrated by his family Wednesday, May 5, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. His service to country was honored by the traditional presentation of the flag and taps by a military honor guard. His service to family was honored by the nontraditional, but loving, presentation of his favorite chair at graveside by his grandsons. We were richly blessed by the gift of George Teepells life and we thank God for the years with him. We rejoice in his reunion with his beloved Kitty and precious daughter, Kathy. To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: a time to be born, a time to dieHe has made everything beautiful in its time. Ecclesiastes 3: 12, 11.
