George A. Mayeux, Jr.

George Allen Mayeux, Jr., a native of Marskville, LA, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the age of 87.  He was a graduate of LSU and served in the US Army from 1956 to 1959.  He eventually retired as a Logistics Technician at Shell Chemical.  He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.  George loved to watch football both college and professional. He also enjoyed watching any documentary on WWII that he could find.  He loved home cooked meals & loved going out to eat.  Seafood was his favorite. He loved his Community Coffee & had several cups per day. He was always kind, giving & polite.  He had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs.  He showed genuine kindness & respect to everyone.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Mayeux; parents, George and Mabel Mayeux; and his sister, Shirley Valois.

He is survived by his children, Pauline Mayeux, Deborah Mayeux, and Christine Mayeux; brother, Terry Mayeux (Carol); and nieces and nephews, Gregory Valois (Melanie), David Mayeux (Debra), Wendy McCormick (John), and Mandy Deshotel (Jacob).

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  A Graveside Service will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
