Genena Jaquith Broussard Harelson, my beloved wife and best friend, passed away on August 28th, 2021, after a 22-year battle with multiple sclerosis. Born on August 11, 1967, she is survived by her husband of 29 years, Kelly R. Harelson, and her brothers Todd J. Broussard and Mark R. Broussard. She is preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Teresa Jaquith Broussard, and her father, George A. Broussard.
Genena was a loving wife and sister, a faithful friend, and a much-loved aunt to her many nieces and nephews. An educator at heart, Genena found much joy teaching elementary classes at St. Alphonsus Catholic School. Even though MS shortened her professional career, she remained a lifelong teacher to everyone who encountered her. Her life was an example of quiet perseverance, selfless concern for others, and steadfast Christian faith.
“Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2
