Gaye Murray

December 6, 1959 — September 29, 2016

Gaye Lynn Frances Luquet Murray passed away peacefully in the presence of family on September 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Eugene Luquet, Jr., mother, Marlene Maria Grieff Luquet and grandmother, Ethel Antoinette Flynn Grieff.

Gaye is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Michael J. Murray, and four children: Jeffrey, Brett (Samantha), Katharine and Michael, and siblings: Cindy Luquet Von Bodungen (Carl), Karen Luquet Maderal (Frank) and Patrick Luquet (Tammie).

A resident of Baton Rouge for the past 22 years, Gaye was born on December 6, 1959 in New Orleans, LA. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of New Orleans in 1984. Gaye married the love of her life, Michael J. Murray on May 27, 1983. Her greatest joy was raising their four children whom she loved more than anything.

Her persistent positive outlook on the life God gave her led to many beautiful friendships that she cherished throughout her journey. She was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Tigers and the Saints. She spent many days with her Come Lord Jesus prayer group, and cherished all the lunch dates she spent with her friends. A founding member of the Murray family "Lucky Ladies Club," Gaye's quick wit, wonderful dance moves and bright smile lit up every room she entered. She will be missed greatly, but her love and courage will live on in all of us forever.

Friends and relatives are invited to join the family for a memorial service at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Monday, October 3, 2016. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and followed by a funeral mass at noon. Burial will take place at St. George Cemetery.

The Murray family would like to send their sincere thanks to Dr. Jones Samuel and the nurses at Fresenius Dialysis Clinic. For those who choose to make a donation, Gaye's two favorite charities were Little Sisters of the Poor and the Mayo Clinic.
