Gary Thornton

Gary W Thornton passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Baton Rouge. He was born in Winnsboro , LA, January 21, 1956 and graduated from Winnsboro High School and ULM Construction program. Gary was the founder of ThornCo LLC. a commercial construction business from 1996 until recent retirement 2017. He loved working at his business, boating, beach, outdoors and traveling with his friends. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Gary is survived by his wife, Cindy of 38 years; children, Michael J Thornton and wife, Melissa, Ashley Thornton Hernandez and husband, Ben; grandchildren, Ness, Sage, Zael, Olive and Mallie Ann; sister, Kay Thornton Huff and Brother-in-law, Gary of Winnsboro; nephews, Brad and Justin Huff. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther Thornton and Christine Smith Thornton; brother, Luther Michael Thornton. Gary served on several boards including the ULM alumni, ULM industrial consultants board, president of the Louisiana Subcontractor Alliance Group and VP of Louisiana American Subcontractors Association. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Healing Place Church and Jefferson Baptist Church.
