Gary D. Long

Gary D. Long, age 82, of Baton Rouge, La, passed away Wednesday night, July 8, 2015 at his home. Born August 5, 1933 in Burlington, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lucy Woodburn.

Gary honorably served our country in the United States Coast Guard and worked for General Electric for 29 years. While working for General Electric, Gary played an integral role in the NASA Apollo missions and SkyLab programs and was highly respected as a subject matter expert.

After his retirement, Gary, moved to Baton Rouge to be with family. He is survived by his loving daughter, Mickie Long and her husband Ted Newsom of Baton Rouge, and his three grandsons, Travis and Cody Jack of Baton Rouge, La and Jason Jack of Spring, Tx.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mrs. Marie Long.

Memorial services and burial for Gary Long will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, La 70816.
