A New Yorker, Gabriel Ronga, passed away at his residence in Prairieville, LA, on Saturday February 27, 2016 at the age of 80.
Gabe LOVED animals. He had a special connection- especially with birds of all kinds. Gabe was a master judge at pigeon shows and had prize winning birds. He was a naturalist and LOVED LIFE. His number one love was dining out, especially with his wife, Iris, and friends. Iris was a great cook and cooking for Gabe was a special event. Gabe was a people person, he loved everyone-ALWAYS.
Gabe is survived by his son, Juan J. Cortes and friend Tracy Westrack; Mrs. Rosa Cobb; grandchildren, Allison Felps and husband Chris Sr. and children Abby and Chris; Jonathan Cobb and his wife Boonie and sons Wyatt and Ethan; Enrique Cortes and Heather Davis and daughters Gabriela and Savannah; Jennifer Cortes; and Jessi Cortes and daughter Adriana. He is also survived by his brother, Anthony Ronga and wife Rosa; sisters, Linda Cerracchio and husband Guy, Lola Pica and husband Louis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gabe was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Ronga, and parents, Antimo Ronga and Rosamundo Zazzarino.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Visitation will continue on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1022 N Burnside Ave, Gonzales, LA 70737, from 9:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
