On Monday, November 7, 2011, Fraser Edmund Landreneau, M.D., FACS, succumbed to death following his courageous battle with cancer. We are assured he is now with Our Lord and Savior, praying for us as he did with his family and patients here on Earth. Fraser was the devoted husband of Amy Culpepper Landreneau for 16 years and the loving father of Claire Elise, Caroline Armand, and Alexander Lex Fraser. Dr. Landreneau was the son of Rodney E. Landreneau, Jr., M.D., FACS deceased and Colleen Fraser Landreneau of Eunice, Louisiana. He was the brother of Rodney J. Landreneau, M.D., FACS and wife, Sandra of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Michael D. Landreneau, M.D., FACS deceased Denise Landreneau Bowie, and husband, Charles Bowie, M.D., of Eunice, Louisiana Melany Landreneau Vidrine and husband, Kyle of Eunice, Louisiana and Edythe Landreneau Koonce, and husband, Jeffrey Koonce, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was the soninlaw of Lawrence Culpepper, DDS and his wife, Kay, of Monroe, Louisiana and the brotherinlaw of Brett Culpepper and wife, Kristie of Baton Rouge. Dr. Landreneau was the uncle of 20 nieces and nephews and great uncle of 3. Dr. Landreneau grew up in Eunice, Louisiana and graduated with honors from St. Edmund High School in 1986. He was an Altar Server, Eagle Scout and a life long supporter of Scouting. At St. Edmunds he excelled in athletics where he earned All District honors in football under the coaching of Joe Nagata deceased. He attended Louisiana State University in Eunice and in Baton Rouge from 1986 through 1989 and was an active member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity in Baton Rouge. He was an early admissions selection for medical school training at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport where he excelled and was elected to membership of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society for Academic Excellence. After completing medical school, Dr. Landreneau was selected for neurosurgical residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas where he was chief resident from 19981999. During his neurosurgical residency, he was selected for additional neurosurgical vascular training at the prestigious Barrow Neurological Institute of Phoenix, Arizona. In 1998, Dr. Landreneau also completed a Neurosurgical Fellowship at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, Australia. After completing neurosurgical training in 1999, Dr. Landreneau joined the NeuroMedical Center of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 2004, he was a founding partner and member of the medical team, led by Dr. Thomas Flynn, involved in building the present NeuroMedical Center Hospital in Perkins Rowe. Dr. Landreneau was an excellent technical neurosurgeon, an innovator and inventor of spinal instrumentation medical devices, two of which his daughters, Claire and Caroline helped to create, and he was a first rate, caring doctor, admired by his patients and his medical colleagues. A friend to all who knew him, Dr. Landreneau was respected and loved by nurses and medical staffs throughout Baton Rouge. Dr. Landreneau was board certified in Neurosurgery and he was elected into the American College of Surgeons in 2001. He was a Freemason and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. George Parish Roman Catholic Church of Baton Rouge. Frasers passionate loves were for his family, neurosurgery, LSU football, travel, fishing, hunting, and outdoor adventures. He was the neurosurgical consultant for LSU athletics and a member of the Tiger Athletic Foundation TAF. We will miss his energetic nature and enthusiasm for life, his loving spirit, and his dedication to his friends, patients, and his family. This summer, Fraser worked tirelessly for the American Cancer Society. Frasers family is truly grateful for the support and prayers given during his valiant fight. On Friday, November 11, 2011 visiting will take place from 10:30 a.m. until Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. George Roman Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Dr., Baton Rouge, LA 708094699, 225 2932212.
