Frank Tidwell

Frank D. Tidwell, age 89, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on April 15, 2023.    

Frank was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on October 30, 1933, to parents Charles Perry Tidwell Sr. and Clara Levy Tidwell. He moved to Baton Rouge in the early 1960’s and married his late wife, Barbara Jean Ross Tidwell, in 1979. He was an electrical designer with 40+ years of experience at Exxon, Ford, Bacon and Davis and many other engineering firms. Frank was witty and sarcastic with a dry sense of humor who enjoyed woodworking, bowling, and had a particular affection for babies. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.  

He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Martin (David), and Kathy Frank (Rick); step-daughter, Saundra Pilgrim; step-son, Sherwood Pilgrim (Holly); sisters, Ruth Lewis and Sue Bridges; granddaughters, Brandy Freeman (Mike), Allyson Hunt (Matt), Kirby Frank, Alex Loy (Chris); grandsons, Trey Cutrer (Katie), Stratton Frank, and Christian Pilgrim (Katie); great-grandchildren, Alex, Mikey and Matthew Freeman, Levi, Clara and Liam Hunt, Gabriel and Elizabeth Loy, and Banks Pilgrim; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Emma Herdman and Linda Wiggins. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of twenty years, Barbara Tidwell; as well as his first wife, and mother of his children, Drucille Stokes; parents, Charles and Clara Tidwell; brothers, Charles Perry Tidwell, Jr., James “Jimmy” Edgar Tidwell, and Samuel “Jack” Jackson Tidwell. 

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 1:00 PM until Memorial services at 2:00PM. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. 

In lieu of flowers please make donations to The American Cancer Society, The Wounded Warrior Project, the Special Olympics in Frank’s name.
