Frank Shellmire, Sr.

Frank Shellmire, Sr. was sent from heaven to earth on January 31, 1950. Heaven reclaimed its precious gem from Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD on May 12, 2021 at 11:45 AM.

Frank Shellmire Sr. affectionately known by his family and friends as Big Frank and Pops was born to Melvina Shelmire in Baton Rouge, LA and was raised in New Orleans, LA.

Frank Shellmire, Sr. graduated from Booker T. Washington Senior High School in New Orleans, LA. He began his working career in 1990 at Southern Earth Sciences, formerly known as Delta Testing Inc. for over 25 years.

Frank Shellmire, Sr. and LaVern Marie Shellmire were married February 24, 1973. Pops will be deeply missed by his family and all who came to know him.

Frank Shellmire, Sr. leaves to cherish his memories four loving children, Frank Shellmire Jr. (Regina Striggs-Shellmire) of Columbia, MD; Cyril Shellmire (Cedra Day-Shellmire), Damian Shellmire (Kimberly Shellmire) of Baton Rouge, LA and April Zeigler (Joseph Zeigler) of Baltimore, MD. 25 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie Jett Shellmire; two brother-in-laws, Rufus Robinson and Glenn Vicks; two sister-in-laws, Trudy Robinson and Lisa Lino Vicks, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that loved him dearly.

Frank Shellmire, Sr. was preceded in death by his mother Melvina Shelmire; his wife LaVern Marie Shellmire, mother-in-law Louise Stevens, granddaughter Zhane Marie Zeigler, and niece, Trinae Robinson.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. from 10 AM until services at 12 PM.
