Frank Russell Owen, Jr. passed away on February 7, 2016. Born in Brownsville, Tennessee on April 29, 1926 to Bessie Elizabeth Morton and Frank Russell Owen, Sr. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Army serving in the Intelligence and Reconnaissance Platoon, 259th Regiment of the 65th Infantry Division. Upon his return stateside, Frank settled in Memphis, Tennessee and soon met and married Louisiana native Mary Irene Rhodes. Thereafter, they had two children, D. Adele Owen and Michael Garry Owen both currently of Baton Rouge. Frank subsequently met and married Faye Robinson Keady and thereafter welcomed his third child, Kimberley Kaye Owen May currently of Jackson, Mississippi.
Frank began his lifelong career in the motion picture industry first with Warner Brothers, then with Columbia Pictures, and retiring from Buena Vista International. He was known for his love of history, particularly military history, films, photography, and was quite the crossword aficionado.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Russell Owen, Sr. and Bessie Elizabeth Morton Owen, and his brothers, William Owen, Sr., Roy Ezelle Kinney, Jesse Kinney, and Edward Kinney. Frank is survived by his three children, Adele, Mike, and Kim, two grandchildren, Justin Michael May and Trevor Michael Owen, and two great-grandchildren, Grayson Bentley May and Chloe Brielle May.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM immediately followed by funeral services all at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
