Francis Oliver Rivet, Jr. "Frank" was given to this world on July 16, 1942 and returned home to the Lord on Sunday, September 17, 2017.
Sleep on Beloved
Calm is thy slumber as an infant's sleep. But thou shall wake no more to toil and weep;
Thine is perfect rest secure and deep. Goodnight! Only goodnight beloved, not farewell!
Until we meet again before his throne, clothed in the spotless robes, he gives his own. Goodnight!
Frank was born and raised in New Orleans. He loved the way "it was". He always remained a New Orleans boy. He loved to laugh! And to tell a good story or a joke to make others laugh. He loved life! He was a special person who served his country in the United States Navy, and his community as a New Orleans Policeman, before moving to Baton Rouge.
Frank is survived by his wife Marie; daughter, Dace' Rivet Merchant and son-in-law, Greg Merchant; and his most special person in his life his grandson and "Buddy", Brandon Merchant and of course we can't forget his puppy, "Sarge".
He was preceded in death by his baby brother who died at birth; his parents Oliver Rivet, Sr. and Claire Rivet.
His request was to be cremated with a small Memorial Service at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 1:00 pm until service time at 2:00pm.
We are honoring his request; however, we are planning a "Celebration of His Life" get together at a later date all are invited that knew and loved him.
Our family would like to thank his doctors and nurses who took such excellent care of him during his lengthy illness. Doctors Mitchell Hebert, William Hines, Jeffery Hyde, Adrien Landry and Sharon Nelson. Nurses Jamie, Jennifer, and Nancy. His time at PACE was short but meaningful to Frank and Marie. Thank you and God bless each of you and your families.
Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.
