Frank Shaw Gibbens, age 68, passed away after a short battle with cancer, Monday, June 14th, 2021, in his home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in Baton Rouge to Julian and Irene (Alexander) Gibbens and was the youngest of five children. After graduating from Baton Rouge High in 1971, Frank started working at Pittsburgh Paints where he began a long career in paint sales. He later worked for AWC Coatings and finished his career at Farrell-Calhoun Paint. He was loved and admired by everyone he met and developed lifelong friends through his work. Frank’s favorite pastimes were fishing with his childhood friends and cooking for his family. While in his 20s, he became a champion racquetball player and continued playing recreationally until recent years. Frank was known by his four grandchildren as “Pop”, and he would often surprise them with special lunch dates.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Lauren Green and Joel; son, Grant Gibbens and Mallory; former spouse, Deborah Kay Gibbens; sisters, Mary Lou Reed and George, and Rita McDaniel and Mike; sister-in-law, Paula Gibbens; grandsons, Harrison Lane Green and Julian Shaw Green; and his cherished new additions, granddaughters, Eleanor June Gibbens and Josephine Eloise Green. He was also loved and held dear by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Irene Gibbens; sister, Peggy Whitehead; and brother, Ronald Gibbens.
