Mrs. Frances Brown Kogler, age 90, passed away peacefully into Eternity at 1:07 am on Sunday, November 16, 2014. She was born in Syracuse, NY on December 30, 1923, but had resided in Baton Rouge since 1967. Frances was the beloved mother of three sons Richard Donald Kogler, II and wife Jeannene, Scott Clayton Kogler and wife Melissa, and Kurt Bradford Kogler. She was a loving grandmother to Amy Kogler Langeler, Allison Kogler Matherne, Daniel Scott Kogler, and Laura Kogler Evers. Frances had two great grandchildren, Colby and Naomi Langeler.
Fran enjoyed playing golf, especially three holes in one, china painting, fusing and slumping glass, and various crafts such as decoupage and making gift boxes. Making cards and sending them to people with encouraging words was a special ministry of Frans. She was a WWII Red Cross volunteer, a longtime member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, former president of the Fairwood Country Club, The Womens Golf Assoc., and Mended Hearts Assoc. She volunteered with the American Heart Assoc., Womans Hospital, Christa McAuliffe Adult Center, and various other charities.
Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 11:00 am until service time. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, conducted by Rev. Ken Carroll. Interment to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers are sons, Rick, Scott, and Kurt Kogler grandson, Daniel Kogler and grandsoninlaws, Matt Langeler and Jimmy Matherne. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Scoggin, Joe Variani, and Steve Langeler.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Dr., Baton Rouge, LA 70815 or Hospice in His care of Baton Rouge, 3233 S Sherwood Forest Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to caregivers Lillie, Velta, and Olga. Also, special appreciation is extended to the staff of Hospice in His Care.
