Frances Hammonds

Mary Frances Minchew Hammonds, age 92, passed away on November 11, 2021.

Frances was born on August 18, 1929 in Brewton, Alabama, but was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She always put others before herself and loved taking care of her family, fishing, gardening, and cooking. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Methodist Church.

Frances is survived by her children, Gloria Mashon, Judy Barbay (Glenn), Mark Hammonds (Mary Jo) and Dale Hammonds (Janet); her siblings, Caylop Minchew and Henry Hartward Minchew; her 6 grandchildren and her 5 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hammonds; her parents, Henry L. Minchew and Etta McDonald Minchew; and her siblings, Maybelle Minchew Singleton, Charles Gabriel Minchew, James Howard Minchew, and Ernest Mason Minchew.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816 on Monday, November 15, 2021 from 9:30 am until services at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service.
