Frances “Dee Dee” Broome Fryoux, age 83, of St. Johns, Fl, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at Baptist South Hospital, August 5, 2023.

Dee Dee was born on August 22, 1939, at Baton Rouge, La, to Ella Mae Hingle Broome and James E. Broome.

She married Richard J. “Noonie” Fryoux in 1964 after a 6-year courtship. Of this union, one child was born, Kurt D. Fryoux. Kurt married his college sweetheart, Carol Fung of Metairie, La. They had twins, Lauren and Michael in Dec. 2001.

Dee Dee had three siblings, Norma Jean Broome Stephens (John), who predeceased her; Charles D. Broome (Ann); and Barbara Broome Purpera (Johnny).

She graduated from Istrouma High School in 1957 and Spencer Business College in 1958. She began working in a small law firm in August 1958, and continued until her retirement in December 2005. Dee Dee was always interested in learning and took accounting classes at LSU and B.R. Trade School. She also graduated from the Paralegal Studies at LSU. She worked as a paralegal and Notary Public for Attorney R. Bruce Macmurdo.

Dee Dee was a music lover and one of her favorite pastimes was dancing with her husband until the time of his death. She also loved reading and live theater.

After retirement, she moved to Florida to be closer to her family. Her biggest joy was being a part of her son’s family and helping raise the twins and their pups. Dee Dee was a huge animal lover.

Dee Dee is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Carol Fung Fryoux; grandchildren, Lauren and Michael Fryoux, all of St. Johns, Florida; brother Charles D. Broome (Ann) and sister, Barbara Broome Purpera (Johnny), all of Central, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Dee Dee’s husband of 38 years, Richard J. “Noonie” Fryoux; her parents James and Ella Mae Hingle Broome; and her sister Norma Jean Broome Stephens, preceded her in death. Special thanks to the most wonderful daughter-in-law, Carol. She is a wonderful friend, great mother, and wonderful wife to Kurt. Also, Dee Dee was blessed to be friends to her nieces and nephews and to spend time with them. Ann Broome has been the most wonderful sister-in-law a person could have.
