Frances Calamia

Frances passed away on January, 20th, 2013 at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Louis Joseph Calamia, Sr. her mother and father, Rose Elizabeth Randazzo and Gerlando Messina and one soninlaw, J.B. Smith Sr. A devout Catholic, she graduated from St. Josephs Academy before attending a business college. Frances worked for over 25 years as a medical record librarian at the Greenwell Springs Tuberculosis Hospital. Although short in stature, Frances was a woman of great strength and courage. She was known for her caring nature and warm generosity, as well as her fiery spirit and nononsense approach to life. She is survived by her children and childrens spouses: Louis Joseph Butch Calamia, Cindy and Gary Aucoin, Linda Smith, Beth and George Brent Orillion, Karen and Donald Russell, Mike and Vickie Calamia, Keith and Diana Calamia by her 23 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and by her two sisters, Mary Jean Bourgeois and Terri Jo Coupel, and one brother, Salvador Messina. To her entire family, Frances was a source of inspiration for how to live a life committed to God and family. Frances loved spending time with her family at the beach, enjoyed playing golf and bowling, and delighted in caring for her dog, Bella. One of Frances favorite activities was dancing with her husband. Although they deeply mourn her passing, her family is comforted in knowing that today Frances is reunited with her husband and the two of them are waltzing together in heaven. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 5 pm to 9 pm and will resume on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30.
