Florence “Teeny” B. Koon Williams, born on May 11, 1921, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the age of 103.
Teeny was born in Baton Rouge, LA to Walter and Estelle Bernard and is a graduate of Baker High School. She was employed by The State Times and Morning Advocate until she retired in 1983. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Denham Springs, LA. Teeny found joy in sewing, scrapbooking, and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy will be her love and faithfulness to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was one of a kind, loving, funny, creative, spunky and sassy. Teeny was quick witted with a very sharp mind until the very end and even though she faced many trials, her faith in Jesus remained strong. We are comforted knowing that she is rejoicing in heaven. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lead not unto thine own understanding. In all the ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.
Teeny is survived by her daughter, Virginia Koon Stewart; sons, Lee R. Koon, Jr. (Amy) and Paul B. Koon (Dodie); 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lee R. Koon, Sr.; second husband, Lloyd J. Williams; parents, Walter Joseph Bernard and Lillian Estelle George; sons, Walter Joseph Koon and Charles Gordon Koon; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dixie Moreau, Patricia and Fred McKenzie for their love and support through the years, Carolyn Bryant for her loving care, Amanda Boothe Sparks for her love and comfort in Teeny’s final hours, and Hospice of Baton Rouge.
