The sunshine of our lives, Florence Eunice Shine Bozeman Dixon, died peacefully surrounded by her family on April 14, 2014, in Baton Rouge at age 87. Born January 19, 1927, in Baton Rouge, she graduated from Seventh Ward now Woodlawn High School along with her beloved husband of 68 years. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Lucas Dixon, Sr. four children, Bobbie Ruth Dixon Shaffett and husband Sonny, Susan Elizabeth Dixon, Verna Louise Dixon Fletcher and husband Bill, and Vernon Lucas Dixon, Jr. and wife Barbara as well as her greatest joy, her grandsons, who will be her pallbearers Benjamin Joseph Shaffett and wife Brandy, William Hayes Fletcher, Jr., and Lucas Charles Fletcher and greatgrandchildren, Presley Ann and Anthony Joseph A.J. Shaffett. She is also survived by four brothers, Justin Bozeman, Paul Donald Bozeman, Larry Bozeman, and Francis Eugene Bozeman. She was preceded in death by an infant son her parents, Harry Aldrich Battling Bozeman and Annie Lee Walker Bozeman brothers, Harry, Joseph, and Ronald Bozeman and sisters, Kathryn B. Kohler, Beverly B. Babin, Marian B. Arnold, and Patsy B. Lanier. Shine placed no value on worldly material things but rather referred to her family and friends as her greatest treasures. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her own, as well as the many other children nurtured in her home who called her Maw Maw or Aunt Shine. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 9:00 am until funeral services in the Resthaven Chapel at 10:30 am, conducted by Dr. T.C. French and Dr. David Goza of Jefferson Baptist Church where she was a member. Interment to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
