A visitation will be held for Mrs. Fay Elodie Daigle Cranfield, age 86, on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA, beginning 4:00 P.M. for the immediate family and 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. for extended family and friends, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, December 20, 2018, beginning 9:30 A.M., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in Prairieville, LA, with Fr. Jerry Martin officiating Mass at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow immediately at Resthaven Garden of Memories.
Mrs. Cranfield was born in Gonzales, LA on September 30, 1932. She passed away at the Memory Care Facility of Francois Bend in Gonzales, LA on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 9:08 A.M. She was a graduate of Gonzales High School and worked a short time for the Louisiana Department of Revenue and then after marriage, began her life as a homemaker, a devoted wife and mom, a dedicated friend, and loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She was a strong willed and caring woman that was part of the cornerstone of a beautiful marriage of 59 years. Her dedication to family is truly memorable. Her suffering with dementia was a long and hard fought battle that lasted many years with her children, grandchildren and caregivers staying by her side.
Mrs. Cranfield is survived by her brother, Arthur Daigle; sister, Florence Duplessis and husband Burton; brother in law, Doyle “Pomp” Bourgeois; sister in law, Clara Daigle; daughters, Claudia Fay Diez and husband Kris, Lorie Ann Bercegeay and husband Anthony; sons, Harold Clay Cranfield and wife Marjorie, Brice Lee Cranfield and wife Roxanne, Wesley David Cranfield and wife Leslie; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild due to arrive in April of 2019 and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Daigle; mother, Estelle Lanoux Daigle; brother, Emanuel Daigle; and sisters, Marie Mares, Catherine Bourgeois, Deloris Daigle, her twin Mae Daigle; brother in law, William "Bill" Mares; sister in law, Rita Daigle; nephew Dennis Daigle; niece Peggy Loehn and great grandson Gavin Vicknair.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Mire, Tagan Mire, Tanner Bercegeay, Callen Cranfield, Brandon Vicknair, Hunter Cranfield, Colby Cranfield and Chase Cranfield. Marshall Higgins, Brayden Higgens and Keith Chiquet will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to St. Joseph’s Hospice of Baton Rouge and the Francois Bend Memory Care Facility for the excellent care and support they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mrs. Cranfield’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
