Faie Marie Torres Headlee, resident of Baton Rouge since 1957, passed away peacefully May 20, 2022, at the age of 98. She was born April 29, 1924, in Thibodaux, Louisiana to Ferdinand Torres, Sr. and Evangeline Simoneaud Torres. She was a WAVE in the Navy stationed in Pensacola, FL during WWII. While there, she met and later married Robert “Bob” Headlee on July 25, 1946, who preceded her in death in 1987. Faie was a woman of grace and strong faith who considered family her biggest blessing. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church where she was a devoted volunteer for the Adoration Chapel and the Prayer Line. She enjoyed reading, painting and playing the piano.
Faie is survived by her children, Jaie Headlee Daigle and husband, Howard Daigle, Jr; Ross Headlee and wife, Helen Headlee; Jill Headlee Carney and husband, James Carney; Mark Headlee and wife, Brenda Headlee; Shane Headlee and wife, Pam Headlee; Christina “Christy” Headlee Melancon and husband, John “Johnny” Melancon. She is also survived by her sister Betty Torres Bourgeois; and granddaughters, Meghan Daigle; Kelsey Daigle and husband Dmitry Daigle; Shannon Carney Ellis and husband Hayden “Matt” Ellis; Brooke Carney; Jennifer Headlee Spencer and husband Ben Spencer; Jessica Headlee Gutherie and husband George “Rush” Guthrie, Jr.; Kathleen “ Katie” Headlee Millet and husband Stephen Millet; Windy Tassin and husband Ben Tassin; grandson, Sean Melancon; grandson-in-law, Max Julian; step grandchildren, Karen Gugich, George Gugich, John Gugich, Heather Melancon, Kristen Melancon, Derrick Melancon and John Melancon, Jr. She is also survived by and blessed with 30 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand Torres, Sr. and Evangeline Simoneaud Torres; brothers, Theophile Torres, Sr. and Ferdinand Torres, Jr.; granddaughter, Amanda “Mandy” Carney Julian; great granddaughter, Claire Celeste Julian and step grandchild, Mary Gugich.
Visitation will take place at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA on May 25, 2022, from 9:30 am – 11:30 am with a funeral mass immediately following.
