Ewell Bourgeois

Ewell Paul Bourgeois passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years old on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 9:30 AM. He was born February 20, 1931, in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He was a long time resident of Baton Rouge. He retired after 35 years of service from Kleinpeter Farms Dairy. He was an active member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was a founding member of the St. George Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed cooking jambalaya, growing a big vegetable garden, and most of all spending time with his family and close friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty LeBlanc Bourgeois, two daughters and son-in-law, Sharon Gremillion, Gail and Jimmy Graham, three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Denis and Sheri, Randall and Charlotte, and Gary, two sisters, Shirley Guillot and Louella Hernandez of Thibodaux, ten grandchildren, Bart (Rena), Blake (Amanda), Courtney (Chad), Jamie (Brian), Andrew, Christopher, Eric, Kristal, Erica, Garrett, seven great-grandchildren, Brooke, Madeline, Ryan, Claire, Katherine, Maddison, and Harper and long time best friends George and Carol Melancon.

He was preceded in death by parents Alfred "Freddie" and Aline Ledet Bourgeois, brothers, Alfred and Olden, sisters, Elsie Hawks and Elvie Levron, son-in-law Kenneth Gremillion. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Hospice at Carpenter House for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be Friday, May 13, 2016 from 5-9 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home on Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, 70817. Visitation will resume Saturday at 9 AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church until funeral mass at 11 AM. Recitation of the rosary will be at 10 AM. Burial to follow at Resthaven. Celebration of Life after burial at Home of Bart Gremillion, 10165 Elliot Road, 70817.
