Everett David Brittingham passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born November 17, 1936, to Sidney David Brittingham and Mamie Estelle Day Brittingham.
He attended Louisiana State University and was a devoted Tigers fan. Everett retired from Dow Chemical as a Lab Technician after 40 years of dedicated employment.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of almost 50 years, Margaret Louise Partin Brittingham; and his sister Bobbie Weaver. Everett is survived by his daughters, Linda Brittingham and Karen Reeves and husband, Michael; his beloved grandchildren Brandon Reeves and wife Ana, Kala Reeves Collins and husband Christopher, and Krista Reeves Baron and husband Joshua; as well as great-grandchildren Sawyer and Tucker Reeves, Ellie, Landry and Lucy Baron, and Cade and Ada Collins. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn Williams; sisters-in-law Judy Stock and Anna Jeanine Delaughter; brother-in-law Bruce Weaver; numerous nieces, nephews, family, friends, and his church family at Comite Church of Christ, where he was a longtime devoted member.
The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Herschel Dean, Dr. Thomas Trahan and nurse Susan, Dr. Samuel Field and nurse Gretchen, his home health nurse Tiffany, and all the dedicated staff at Acadian Management Group, LTAC for their compassionate care of Everett.
A faithful Christian, Everett was a devoted servant of God, family, church, friends, and community. He gave generously of his time and finances in support of those in need.
A man of stature, he possessed a gentle spirit, with a sharp mind and wit. An avid reader, he enjoyed quite a treasury of books. He loved reading his daily newspaper, remaining knowledgeable of current events.
A real movie buff and trivia master, he was on the ready to quote movie lines and answer questions. He loved a good rousing game of cards with family, and almost always came out the victor.
Most importantly, he is, in Christ Jesus, now victorious over death and receiving his reward in his Heavenly home.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, Monday, February 19, 2024, beginning at 1:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:30 p.m. followed by the burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
