Ethel Roland

Ethel Theresa Melancon Roland, 88, a resident of Baker, LA passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Ethel graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1953. She loved her plants, beautiful flowers and feeding the birds that came to visit her each day. But most of all she adored jitterbug dancing, especially with her brother, Willie.

She is survived by two sons, Harry L. Roland III “Trey” and Douglas T. Roland “Tracy”; daughter, Laura and her husband, Jimmy Abadie; grandson, Jacob C. Gentry and his wife, Jade; great-grandson, Colt T. Gentry; siblings, Emily Odom and her husband, Don, Roger Melancon and his wife, Helen, Carole Melancon “Ducky”, and Joyce Leger and her husband, R.L.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Fisher Melancon; father, Wilfred J. Melancon Sr.; son, James T. Roland “Troy”; brothers, Wilfred J. Melancon Jr. “Willie” and Harold J. Melancon.

There will be a graveside service open to the public on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 11:00 am at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
