Evelyn Strickland Plaisance

Ethel Evelyn Strickland Plaisance passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024, nearly two weeks short of her 101st birthday. Evelyn was born to Dempsey J. Strickland, Sr. and Ethel Wells Strickland of Spring Creek, Louisiana on November 28, 1923. She was a graduate of Spring Creek Highschool before attending Southeastern Louisiana University. Evelyn then worked as a clerical worker before becoming a devoted homemaker. 

Evelyn enjoyed gardening. She was also a long time member of St, Andrews United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her of 52 years husband, Joseph O. Plaisance, Jr.; their son, Stephen Joseph Plaisance; her parents; her sister, Ruth Johnson Haley; and her brother, Dempsey J. Strickland, Jr.

Evelyn is survived her sister, Wilda Strickland Lockhart and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Alice Ennis who was as close to her as family. They would also like to thank the employees of Ollie Steele Burden Manor for their compassion and care. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Memorial Service at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
