Ethel Jenkins

February 4, 1951 — February 20, 2017

Ethel Browning Jenkins, age 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 20, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ethel was born on February 4, 1951, in Greenwell Springs, LA where she was a lifetime resident. She was an active member of Comite Baptist Church. Ethel retired from the Central Community School System as a cafeteria worker. She was known as the sweetest and most humble person you would ever meet. Ethel has many friends and family that will miss her smiling face and positive personality each day. She never had anything bad to say about anyone and loved everyone. Ethel spent her life devoted to God and prayed that everyone would see him like she did. Her biggest joy in life were her five grandkids and watching LSU play ball.

She is survived by her loving sons, Scott Edward Jenkins (Keriann) and Joshua Wade Jenkins (Stephanie); her five grandchildren, Slade Jenkins, Myra Jenkins, Keller Jenkins, Emilee Jenkins, and Claire Jenkins. She is also survived by her siblings, Roxie Lippert (Bob), Maurice Browning (Sharon), Virginia Womack (Warren), Sylvia Carroll (Doug), Nancy Adams (Tommy), Kenneth Browning (Shirley), Brenda Jenkins (Charlie); her sister-in-law, Betty "Cooky" Browning; and numerous nieces and nephews who all adored her.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney Ezra Browning and Fannie Richard Browning, and by her brother, James Douglas Browning.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 12:00pm until funeral service at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
