Ethan Zane Rider met his heavenly Father on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the age of 12. He was an outstanding child with a heart of gold, who gave life to others by becoming an organ donor. Ethan loved sports, playing football, soccer, baseball, and basketball. He was 88 for the SJV Crusaders football team. He was a member of St. Jean Vianney, the cub scouts, and loved spending time with family. Ethan was an avid LSU and Saints cheese head fan. He enjoyed vacationing, collecting snow globes, rocks, and souvenirs. He is survived by his mother, Dana Sandifier Rider maternal grandfather, Dody Sandifer his paternal grandparents, Barry and Linda Rider greatgrandmother, Esther Smazenka, aunt, uncle, and godparents, Chad and Rebecca Courtney aunt, Stephanie Sandifer White uncles, David Sandifer, Greg Sandifer, and Timothy Rider cousins, Timothy and Amber Sandifer, Matthew White, Madelyn White, Ella Jean Courtney, Hannah Rider, and Micah Rider numerous family and close friends, Papa Shane, Nanny Sharon Reeves, and Hunter, Jessi, and Jenny. Ethan was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Lee Rider maternal grandmother, Jean Wells Sandifer maternal greatgrandparents, Hardy O. Wells, Jr. and Billie Kirkwood Wells and paternal greatgrandfather, Anthony Smazenka. Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 4pm until 9 pm with a prayer vigil beginning at 6:30 pm. The visitation will conclude with a rosary. Visitation will resume at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, 16166 S. Harrels Ferry Rd., Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, February 25, 2014 from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Pallbearers will be Hunter Palinietier, Pat Guelfo, Kevyn Miller, Matthew White, Mike Bannister, David Boudreaux, Kelly Reed, and RJ Boiteaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Paul Sandifer, Justin Seargent, and Micah Rider. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
