Esther Braud

January 27, 1923 — March 20, 2013

Esther Louise Lee Braud passed from this world on March 20, 2013, after a long illness. She came into this world on January 27, 1923, in Depressionera Arkansas, the first of three sistersEsther herself, Juanita, and Dorothy. During her life in El Dorado, Arkansas, Esther survived scarlet fever, a fall into the bowels of an outhouse, a broken arm after an encounter with a Model T, and scalded arms and legs after she tipped over a pot of boiling water. Esther and her father moved to Dutchtown, LA, during her high school years, where she met her future husband, the quarterback of the football team, Stanley Braud, a strong and beautiful young man. They eventually married, of course, and before the birth of their first child, Stanley went off to WWII. When he returned, they moved to Baton Rouge with their beautiful daughter Stanley Louise. In their 61 years of marriage, they had four childrenStanley Louise, David Lee, Beverley, and Margo. In 1975, they moved to Geismar, LA, building their home on land once owned by Stanleys family. Esther was smart, beautiful, and elegant. Throughout her life, she worked hard, raised four children, and loved her husband. But as in her childhood, Esther faced sad and harsh obstacles. She lost her first two children to incurable disease and her husband to Alzheimers. Her own health deteriorated due to numerous illnesses and injuries over the years. She leaves the following family members who will cherish her memory: daughter Beverley Braud and husband Ronald Benton daughter Margo Braud Dilling and husband Dr. Emery Dilling nephew Marlon Braud former and special soninlaw Al Guevara and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Andrew Braud her parents William C. Lee, Jr. and Ethel Esther Parker daughter Stanley Louise Braud Stiritz son David Lee Braud and two sisters Juanita Cajan Pimley and Dorothy Bubenas and brother William C. Lee, Jr. The family extends enormous gratitude to her caregivers Thelma Varmall and Delores Bringier for extraordinary care and love of Esther for over 20 years, as well as her friends at St. Johns church in Prairieville, LA. We will miss her every day. We will love her forever.
