Ernest Murphree

Ernie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. He passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Ernie retired as the Director of Secondary Education with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System after 35 years of service. Ernest was 84 years old and a resident of Baton Rouge. He and his wife, Chris enjoyed traveling together and playing golf. Ernie was a devoted member to Florida Blvd. Baptist Church. Family meant everything to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 4 pm to 8 pm and will resume at the funeral home on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 10 am until funeral service at 12 noon, conducted by Joey Beeson. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Ernest is survived by his daughter, Louise Murphree grandson, Tristem Murphree three greatgrandchildren, Savanah, Michael, and Tristem, Jr and two sisters, Ann Smith and Elizabeth Bowers. Preceded in death by his parents, Bernie and Mary Louise Murphree daughter, Theresa Lea and son, Michael Murphree his wife, Chris of 56 years brother, Bernie Murphree and sister, Elouise Blakeman.
