A carpenter and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, at his home after a courageous and dignified battle with cancer. He was 62. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, June 22, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m. Cremation to follow. Survived by his best friend and companion, Vera Juneau; mother, Hilda G. Orona and husband Jimmie; and stepmother, Mary DeLatte; son, Larry Paul DeLatte and wife Jennifer; daughter, Sonya Renee DeLatte; three stepdaughters, Kristie Simoneaux, Danielle Morgan and Racheal Juneau; three sisters, Diane Netterville and husband Doug, Beverly Feierabend and husband Alvin, and Michelle Monistere and husband Paul; brother, Rodney DeLatte and wife Ann; nine grandchildren, Josh Sagely and wife Laura and their children, Tyler and Quinton, Roxie Sagely, Megan Worley and husband Will, Ryan DeLatte and wife Karri, Cameron DeLatte, Kristin DeLatte, Alisha DeLatte, Dustin Spillman and Donald Ray Spillman; two great-grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren, Tommy Lefler, Maranda and Blake Bordelon, Colby and Amber Simoneaux, Domonick Jackson and Desmond Juneau. Preceded in death by his father, Ernest Stilley DeLatte. He was a perfectionist by nature and a carpenter by trade. He loved woodworking and was an avid sports fan. Many thanks are extended to his close friend, Mike Souter, cousin, Allen DeLatte and wife Norma, Dr. Castine and nurses with St. Joseph Hospice, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and Baton Rouge General Medical Center whose assistance and support allowed him to stay with his family a while longer.
