Erma Mitchell

Erma Jean Paul Mitchell born August 8, 1935 in Jena Louisiana passed away peacefully May 21, 2018 in Lakeland Florida. She was 82 and a resident of Baton Rouge. Erma was the life of the party with her energetic spirit, contagious laugh, vibrant smile and her love of dancing the jitterbug.
Her family even hired a professional dancer several times to dance with her at special events. Erma's high energy led her to play softball for the Cajun Belles well into her 70's traveling all over the south winning championships.
She was a strong Christian, she led her life by the word of God, passed on her Christian Values and always led the prayer at family gatherings. When the LSU Tigers were playing, Erma could be found cheering on her Tigers dating as far back as 1953 when her late husband played football for LSU. Erma made a positive impact in the lives of so many and leaves behind many loved ones who will miss her dearly. Visitation will be June 4th 5pm-8pm and June 5th 9 am-11am followed by a Memorial Service conducted by Herman Chandler at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Preceded in death by husband James G. "Jim" Mitchell, parents Joseph Oliver Paul and Rose Velma Cockerham Paul and brother Joseph Calvilee Paul. Survived by 3 daughters Carla Mitchell Dunaway and spouse Rick Dunaway Sr., Lakeland Fl., Jamie Mitchell Pino and spouse Roy Edward Pino, Greenwell Springs La, Terri Mitchell Westbrook and William Robert Westbrook Sr., Baton Rouge La, and a son Martin Dale Mitchell, Baton Rouge La.
She expanded her legacy to 9 grandchildren Ricky Dunaway Jr, Kimberly Dunaway Summerall and spouse Eric Summerall, Melissa Dunaway Gonzales, Brittney Pino, Chase Mitchell Pino and wife Ellen Pino, William Robert "Bobby" Westbrook II and wife Asia Westbrook, Tyler Paul Westbrook, Sage Mitchell and Jade Mitchell. She was also blessed with 9 Great grandchildren Roxsanne Dunaway Ciccio, Isabella Gonzales, Elliana Pino, Adalie Pino, Chandler Pino, Lola Gautreaux, Presley Gautreaux, James Glen Westbrook, and Barrett Travis Westbrook. She was also blessed to be a great great grandmother. Pallbearers will be Ricky Dunaway Jr., Bobby Westbrook, Chase Pino and Tyler Westbrook. From all of us Dear Mom, MeMe, Grammy, We love you and will see you in the morning. I Thessalonians 4:13-18.
