ENID ROUSSEL MATHERNE
Psalm 23.6: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Enid Roussel Matherne, age 93, a resident of Denham Springs, LA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 27, 2022. She was born on August 20, 1929 in Hester, Louisiana. She was a most beautiful, loving, generous, and spiritual person and will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the co-founder of Percy J. Matherne Contractor, Inc., a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for many years. She was a member of the Altar Society, the Rosary Group and a participant of the Adoration Chapel.
Enid is survived by her brother Errol Roussel (Myra), her children Deborah Barras (Randy), Darlene McCrary (Edward), Darrel Matherne, Dee Ann Sheets (Bobby), Don Matherne, and Donna Matherne, her loving grandchildren Jason Barras (Monique), Colette Shavers (Jason), Celeste Buhler (Corey), Kyle Matherne (Afton), Lacie Prestridge (Chris), Courtney Macha (Caleb), Landon Sheets (Allie), Colleen Matherne, and Erica Domercant (Jimmy), her adorable Great Grandchildren, Autumn Vessier, Dakota Haynsworth, Alyssa and Drew Shavers, Liam Barras, Caden and Mason Prestridge, Rylen and Emery Matherne, Allie, Addison, Reece and Ryleigh Macha, Kai Domercant, and Lettie Sheets.
She is preceded in death by husband Percy Matherne, parents Holenn and Augustine Roussel, daughter-in-law Krystal Matherne, grandson Ashley Penton, sister Lorraine Dykes, brothers, Ray, Garnet, George, Holenn, Huey, and Murray Roussel.
Visiting hours will take place at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 11:30 until services at 1:00. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Pallbearers will be Jason Barras, Kyle Matherne, Landon Sheets, Jimmy Domercant, Jason Shavers, Caleb Macha, Corey Buhler, and Chris Prestridge.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Alzheimer’s Association of Baton Rouge or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Enid Matherne’s name.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Sunrise Nursing Home, Baton Rouge Hospice, and special thanks to Edna, Magaly, Bernice, and Sarah who took such great care of our mother during her stay at Sunrise.
