Emma Cordero Villa, 81, passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. She was born in Bogot, Colombia, S.A., where she was a registered nurse as well as a midwife for the needy and poor. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting at University United Methodist Church on Friday, Aug. 23, from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ken Carroll. Immediately after the services, a celebration of Life Reception will be held at the home of Armando and Jennifer Villa. Everyone is invited. She is survived by numerous godchildren in Bogot as a result of her altruism. She was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge with her former husband, Alvaro Ramon Villa and three children, Armando Villa and wife Jennifer, Fabiola Villa Griffin and husband Timothy, and Jack Raymond Villa and wife Judi three sisters, Maria Concepcion Toquica and husband Luis, Cleotilde Silva and husband Carlos, and Gladys Cordero Carmona five brothers, Segundo Cordero and wife Victoria, Jorge Cordero and wife Edelmina, Jose Cordero and wife Teresa, Julio Cordero and wife Yolanda, and Samuel Cordero and wife Eunice five grandchildren, Bradley Wade Villa and wife Elizabeth, Bryan Barrow Villa, Connor Raymond Griffin and fiance Alexandra Brown, J. Alexander Aguirre, and James Raymond Villa two greatgrandchildren, Brennan Thomas Villa and Emma Elizabeth Villa. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Bogot as well as her special nieces in Baton Rouge, Maria Ines Brady and husband Todd Brady, Tricia Gantt and husband Brian Barth, Kristy Kaiser and husband Keith Kaiser, Carolina Cordero Gregorio and husband Oscar Gregorio, and Leyda Yvette Cordero. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Cleotilde Cajamarca Cordero a sister, Maria Magdalena Castillo and grandson, Brent Raymond Villa. Pallbearers will be Bradley Villa, Bryan Villa, Connor Griffin, Alexander Aguirre, Max LaBranche II, and Benjamin LaBranche. She was a member of University United Methodist Church.
