God needed some laughter and life in heaven. A great husband, Dad and Grandpa, Elwood Salbador Sr., 85, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007. Born and reared in New Orleans, he spent the last 30 years loving life in Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served at Panama Canal during World War II. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, Nov. 12, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Michael Collins. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, June Baker Salbador; seven children: son Elwood Jr. and wife Cindy, son Clayton and wife Cathy, son Gordon and wife Susie, daughter Terri Riga and husband Bret, son David and wife Kay, son Allan and wife Mary, and son Darrell and Karen; and he was a loving Grandpa to 14 grandchildren. Also survived by a sister, Florian Lagraize; and brother, Albert Salbador and wife Evelyn. Preceded in death by his parents, George Vincent and Appolonia Pauline Escher Salbador; brother, George Salbador; and sister, Claire Schumacher.
