Elsie Marion Margaret Fraatz Schott, devoted mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, loyal friend and mentor to many, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014 in Baton Rouge after a brief illness. Elsie was born May 21, 1924 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Charles J. and Elsie Krohn Fraatz, and married the late Henry K. Schott on January 31, 1943. The Schotts made their home in Roselle, NJ, where Henry pursued an engineering career in New York City and Elsie was a homemaker and mother to their growing family.

In 1959, the Schotts moved to Baton Rouge when Henry was transferred by his engineering firm. While helping to raise their family, Elsie earned a bachelors degree in Education and masters degrees in Education and Library Science at LSU. She belonged to many honor societies including her favorite, Phi Lambda Pi. She also taught Library Science at LSU as a visiting professor.

She especially enjoyed teaching Sunday school and Bible school, singing in the church choir, helping organize and promote the annual formal tea, as well as reading lessons, ushering, and greeting during Sunday services.

In retirement the Schotts enjoyed traveling in the United States and Europe, and swimming at the YMCA on Foster Drive, where Elsie taught deep water aerobic classes for a number of years. Elsies interests and hobbies were many, including creating all types of needlework masterpieces, having lunch with friends, and spending time with her family.
